Anderson's Alpine Lodge Is set at the edge of Mt EgmontTaranaki in native bush offering spectacular views of the mountain. Our Swiss style Lodge rests in five acres of native bush and is designed to capture majestic views of Mount EgmontTaranaki. Extensive landscaping has been done by the Anderson Family to turn what was once a Black Berry Patch, into a magical Native Garden with lakes, waterwheel and bushwalk. Art work by the late Keith Anderson are on display throughout the house and in the gallery. The Lodge, purpose built in 1995, has three guestrooms. For alpine accommodation in Taranaki, close to the mountain; Mount EgmontTaranaki, this is the perfect place. The log chalet is unique and will transfer you into a different world and still have all the comfort of today. The Egmont National Park starts opposite the front gate. A scenic 10 minute drive through the national park will find you at the Stratford Plateau where panoramic views of the Taranaki region await. Also this is the gateway to Taranaki's only skifield. The National Park offers family friendly walks, overnight round-the-mountain trekking and trips to the summit (guides are available on request). Trout streams are just across the road from the lodge. The surrounding region boasts many famed gardens, museums and scenic drive options. Helicopter flights can be arranged with a trip to the summit being very popular and highly recommended. Berta Anderson is your congenial host for Anderson's Alpine Lodge. She has lived on the mountain since 1976. She is very passionate about the unique mountain environment and loves to share her knowledge and experiences with her guests. Berta and her late Husband Keith Anderson were the successful owner operator team of the Mountain House for 22 years and Dawson Falls Tourist Lodge for 11 years. Sadly Keith was in a fatal car accident on the 1st of February 2003. He died of his injuries on the way to the hospital. His wonderful legacy and memory will live on through the unique Anderson's Alpine Lodge he designed and his oil paintings of the beautiful mountain. See more on Keiths paintings
